General Information

Woodloch Stable’s Eventing Derby is a dressage and jumping competition with a course featuring inviting stadium and cross-country jumps, a wide track for cantering/galloping, bank, ditch, and water complex. This is a great opportunity for riders or horses new to eventing, as well as those who want a solid practice run or move-up before a recognized horse trials. The Eventing Derby has the following levels: Intro, Starter, Beginner Novice, and Novice. We may offer Training level if there is enough interest. Formal show attire is not required, however ASTM/SEI-approved helmets are required when mounted (protective vests are required when jumping).

Ride times will be posted on this page and on the Facebook event page the week of the show. Class order will be: N, BN, S, I. Classes are divided into Juniors (under 18) and Seniors (18+).

  • Entry fees: $120 per horse/rider combination
  • Non-Compete horses welcome, $35 per horse. Negative Coggins required with entry.
  • Limited stabling available, day stalls are $35ea, overnight stalls are $50, first come first served. Additional $50 deposit per stall also required with registration, refundable if you clean your stall before you leave.
  • Limited electric camping spots available, $35/night, first come first served.
  • Refunds: 50% before closing date, no refunds after closing date (NC horse/stall deposits/stall fees are 100% refundable before closing date)
  • Cancellations: If show must be cancelled due to inclement weather or other unforeseen instances, entry and stabling fees are non-refundable but can be applied toward a future event at Woodloch.

Ribbons 1st-6th place and prizes 1st-3rd place are provided.

Rules

  • The show office will open at 7:30am on Saturday morning. Check in and pick up your competitor packet. Any outstanding fees and/or forms are due at this time.
  • Each rider/horse combination is assigned a time for their dressage phase and a time for their jumping phase (1 hour after their assigned dressage time). The times are designed to give each rider enough time to put on their protective vest (if not already wearing), change tack (if desired), and warm their horses up in the jumping area before their jumping test.
  • There will be separate areas for dressage and jumping warm-up. Follow the maps and be courteous to other riders and pedestrians.
  • Braiding is NOT required.
  • Dressage tests may be read. Rider must coordinate their own reader.
  • Coaching is allowed during course walks and in jumping warm-up areas.
  • Each horse/rider combination must have their own entry form, fee, negative Coggins, and signed liability waiver. Riders do not need to provide Coggins and/or waivers if they have already provided these documents for prior clinics/shows at Woodloch in 2024.
  • Riders may ride more than one horse in the derby (separate entry forms and fees required for each horse). Horses may be competed only once (no multiple riders on the same horse, even if they are in different divisions).
  • NO OUTSIDE DOGS ALLOWED.
  • Unless otherwise announced, all jumping rounds will be untimed. Jumping rounds are scored with the eventing show jumping penalty system.
  • Lowest combined score (dressage + jumping) wins. Ties will be broken by the lowest dressage score (or, in case of riders with the same dressage score, ties will be broken by highest collective marks).
  • Show staff reserve the right to stop and dismiss any unsafe horse/rider combination.
